Trauma is everyone’s business—and we all have a role to play. This engaging, accessible training helps staff across all sectors understand trauma, respond with compassion, and create safer, more supportive environments. Trauma isn’t limited to clinical settings—it shows up in schools, housing, healthcare, job centres, and daily conversations.
Rooted in UK best practice and the Transforming Psychological Trauma Framework (Scotland), this course uses real-life scenarios, reflection, and practical tools that apply across roles.

Who is this training for?:
This course is designed for anyone whose role involves working with people including those in health, social care, education, housing, third sector, and customer-facing roles. No prior knowledge of trauma-informed practice is required.
What will I learn?
You’ll gain a clear understanding of what trauma is, how it affects people’s behaviour and wellbeing and how to apply the five trauma-informed principles in your day-to-day work. You’ll also learn practical responses for supporting people in distress and strategies for protecting your own wellbeing
How is the training delivered?
The session is highly interactive, blending short presentations with group discussions, case studies, and practical exercises. You’ll have opportunities to reflect, share experiences, and apply learning to real-world scenarios.
Will we talk about distressing experiences?
While trauma is a sensitive subject, the training does not require you to share personal experiences. We focus on learning through examples and scenarios in a safe, supportive environment. We have regular breaks, do grounding exercises and reflective journalling to allow reflection and regulation.
How long is the course and format?
The course runs for 7 hours across one day from 10am til 5pm. We break for lunch at 1pm for a full hour and have regular comfort breaks. All participants receive a printed copy of the slides plus additional handouts and resources.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes - participants who complete the training will receive a certificate of attendance, which can be used for CPD records or organisational training evidence.
